Ryan O'Neil Success Story

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/indexd?blogid=7&year=2008&month=09&day=18

Ryan O’Neil looks pretty good for being 67 years old but he needs to grow up and put the drugs behind him. While some of us still remember the phrase “Being in love means never having to say you’re sorry” unfortunately many of the younger generation know Ryan O’Neil as the father as Tatum O’Neil – the guy who has been arrested a few times.

This time he was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession, along with his son. Redmond, his son was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and there was a vial in Ryan O’Neil’s bedroom.

Tatum O’ Neil, understanding the struggles of addiction because of her personal experience came out in defense of the two.

Stories like this are sad for a number of reasons. No one really likes to see a celebrity deal with their pain publicly. Also when long-term struggles with addiction are made so public, it gives the impression that recovery is all but impossible and individuals are loathe to attempt it.

There are plenty of stories of successful recovery from addiction and we need to hear more about them, especially during September – recovery month.

You can learn about others’ success or become one yourself.
